Now in her sixth year of leadership—and the Urban League of Rochester’s 60th anniversary —Dr. Seanelle Hawkins continues to shape the organization’s bold vision for equity and empowerment. The first woman to serve as organization president and CEO, Dr. Hawkins has doubled the League’s operating budget, expanded public health and workforce programs, and reestablished ULR as the leading civil rights organization in Greater Rochester. She is the founder of Interrupt Racism™, a movement now in its sixth year, featuring an annual summit, community cohorts, and school-based youth programs. Dr. Hawkins also chairs the NYS Community Commission on Reparation Remedies and leads Phase Two of the RASE Commission to advance systemic equity reforms.
