State Senator Royce Duplessis represents New Orleans and a portion of Jefferson Parish. He was elected in 2022 after serving four years in the Louisiana House of Representatives, where he passed common sense criminal justice reforms, championed legislation to expand access to affordable health care, prioritized paid sick leave, and fought to enact a living wage. In the Senate, Duplessis championed legislation to require universal perinatal anxiety screenings and end solitary confinement for juveniles, and successfully led the fight for Louisiana to obtain a second majority black congressional district. Sen. Duplessis has his own legal practice, primarily focusing on civil litigation.
