Ray Dempsey Jr. joined Barclays in March 2021. He is charged with development and implementation of diversity and inclusion goals globally. Previously, Ray was chief diversity officer for BP America and president of the BP Foundation, where he led a broad portfolio, including national strategic relationships and initiatives, supplier diversity, workforce diversity, and philanthropy. Beyond Barclays, Ray is board chairman emeritus of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering and serves on the board of the Kansas State University Foundation. He is a member of The Executive Leadership Council, the preeminent membership organization for the development of global Black leaders. Ray was named by Savoy Magazine as one of the Most Influential Blacks in Corporate America in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022.
