Nik Harris (she/they) is a queer, gender non-conforming attorney, activist, and nationally recognized speaker. She currently serves as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and DEIB at HRC, the largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization in the United States, where she leads national strategies that advance equity, visibility, and justice. She also serves as a spokesperson for the organization, representing HRC’s mission and work nationwide. Nik made history as the first LGBTQ+ director appointed to a member of the Florida Cabinet under Commissioner Nikki Fried. Her legal career includes roles as a senior attorney at the Florida Department of Transportation, a prosecutor at the Florida Department of Health, and a public defender in the 2nd Judicial Circuit. Nik has facilitated DEI trainings for the NAACP, General Mills, the American Bar Association, and Hyatt, and is the co-founder of Black LGBTQ+ Liberation, Inc. and Thou Art Woman, two platforms that uplift LGBTQ+ people of color and queer women through art, advocacy, and community.
