Speaker Bio
Mikel Thomas is a 3x Olympian from Trinidad and Tobago, the first athlete from the island nation to qualify for both the Summer (110m hurdles; Beijing 08, London 12, Rio 16) and Winter Olympics (2-man bobsleigh-Beijing 2022). Currently, Mikel works with Visa’s innovation & global digital partnerships team, managing fintech wealth platforms. Mikel also leads the strategy and operations for the inclusive client partnership team, focused on amplifying the impact of underrepresented fintech founders. Prior to joining Visa, Mikel, an experienced storyteller and marketer, worked with brands like Airbnb. Mikel also spent time serving his community as a former firefighter/EMT in Atlanta. Mikel gained his master’s degree in sport management and technology from the International Academy of Sport Science and Technology (AISTS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
