As Altria’s first Chief IDE officer, Michael Thorne-Begland leads comprehensive strategies to increase the company’s diversity while building an inclusive and equitable culture. He also helped found and then lead Mosaic, Altria's employee resource group for LGBTQ+ employees. Prior to his current role, Michael served as Altria's first Chief Transformation Officer, where he helped build an organization network to drive change and redefine how works gets done across Altria’s family of companies. Prior to joining Altria, Michael practiced law with the Richmond-based firm Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, specializing in international corporate and commercial matters. He is currently a board member of the Children's Home Society of Virginia, Housing Opportunities Made Equal of Virginia. and Crossover Healthcare Ministry.
