Lakindra Askew is a dynamic leader and strategic innovator dedicated to workforce development and economic empowerment. As the Interim Vice President of Workforce Development at the National Urban League, she oversees a national workforce portfolio of signature programs spanning 30+ affiliate locations, including the Urban Seniors Jobs Program across seven affiliates.
With a career spanning workforce development, nonprofit leadership, and program management, Lakindra has held key roles at organizations such as Dress for Success Worldwide and the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. She specializes in dismantling barriers to success, fostering professional growth, and driving large-scale, transformative change.
Lakindra’s leadership has earned her numerous accolades, including the Community & Leadership in Workforce Development Award from the National Council of Negro Women and the Senior Vice President Award for Outstanding Leadership from Syracuse University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in African American Studies.
A results-driven and mission-focused leader, Lakindra is committed to advancing economic mobility and workforce equity. She is passionate about creating sustainable pathways to success, ensuring individuals and communities have the resources and opportunities to thrive.
