Rep. Dr. Imani Barnes is a public health scientist, biomedical research professional, and Georgia State Representative serving House District 86. A lifelong DeKalb County resident and nationally recognized public servant, Dr. Barnes brings a unique combination of scientific expertise, community advocacy, and evidence-based policymaking to the Georgia General Assembly.  One of her signature initiatives is addressing childhood hunger. Her advocacy has helped secure millions of dollars in state funding to support school meal access for tens of thousands of children across Georgia. In recognition of her leadership, Dr. Barnes received the Future Caucus Rising Star Award in 2025.
