As chief executive officer of the League of Women Voters, Celina Stewart executes the 105-year-old organization's mission to empower voters and defend democracy. Previously, she served as the League’s director of advocacy and litigation, senior director of advocacy and litigation, and chief counsel. Before joining the League, Celina served as chief operating officer and director of philanthropy at an electoral reform nonprofit, legislative aide for the Michigan legislature, legal counsel to Minority Leader Stacey Abrams in Georgia, and executive director of the Congressional Black Caucus Institute's 21st Century program. She has been featured in prominent media outlets and is a sought-after speaker. In 2025, Celina testified before the U.S. Senate, warning that proposals like the SAVE Act would unfairly burden eligible voters and urged lawmakers to protect fair, accessible elections.
