Cathy Bender is in her 38th  year with Merrill Lynch. Her civic participation has spanned four Nashville mayors and includes her appointment to the Metropolitan Sports Authority, where she recently served as the first African American female board chair. Governor Phil Bredesen also appointed her to serve on the Tennessee Ethics Task Force. An agent of change in her community, Cathy has served on the local boards of the NAACP, the Nashville Urban League, the Nashville Black Chamber of  Commerce, United Way of Greater Nashville, the League of the Deaf and Hard of  Hearing, the YMCA, the Nashville Predators Foundation, the Maddox Foundation, and the Community Foundation.
