Candice Marie Benlow is a multi-genre theologian who operates at the intersections of beauty, faith, feminism, and culture, giving voice to Black women’s shared experiences of healing and journeying toward wholeness. Named by Sojourners as one of 10 Christian Women Shaping the Church in 2020, Candice has written for outlets that include ESSENCE, Glamour, The Root, theGrio, VICE, Shondaland and the Me-Too Movement. Currently, she is a columnist with Religion News Service and the creator of The ThirtyOne, a women-centered digital media platform focused on faith, culture and lifestyle focus. Her best-selling first book, “Red Lip Theology: For Church Girls Who’ve Considered Tithing to the Beauty Supply Store When Sunday Morning Isn’t Enough,” was released in 2022 and selected as an Amazon Editor’s Pick.
