Ashli Nelson leads a national legislative and community relations strategy to protect and promote the McDonald's brand and its independent franchisees to external organizations, federal, state, and local elected officials. She joined the McDonald’s brand in 2019 to lead strategic engagement and US government relations for the Midwest, tasked with engaging with elected officials, community groups, and McDonald’s owner/operators to drive legislation and improve brand reputation. Previously, Ashli spent nine years as a senior advisor to Chicago Mayors Rahm Emanuel and Richard Daley in the areas of crisis management, strategy, public engagement, and public affairs. She also served as a White House advance associate, responsible for coordinating events and logistics for former President Barack Obama and First Lady Obama.
