Alene Bryant was the maternal grandmother of Ramon Bryant Braxton, was both a singer and choir director in Tacoma, Washington, and was very influential in Ramon's life. In “Songs of Black Folk,” Ramon reflects on his fond memories of Alene Bryant, who spent her final months in a long-term care facility. Alene Bryant passed on Juneteenth 2023.
