Robert James leverages his experiences in banking, law, real estate development, and consulting to provide the building blocks to financial freedom at Carver Financial Corporation, and its main operating subsidiary, Carver State Bank in Savannah, GA. In his 15 years at Carver, Robert deployed $60 million in federal New Markets Tax Credits, creating hundreds of jobs in distressed rural and urban Georgia. He also spearheaded the first ever all-Black bank syndicate to finance a project for a major American sports franchise, the 2021 refinancing of the Atlanta Hawks’ practice facility. Since October 2020, Robert has chaired the National Bankers Association, the leading advocacy group for the nation’s minority banks, where he has helped attract over $150 million in new capital to Black-owned financial institutions.
