Joanne F. Pulles serves as Vice-President for Community Engagement at HCA Healthcare. In this role, Joanne leads a diverse team that manages all aspects of community engagement including social and charitable investment, colleague engagement and strategic partnerships and scholarships.
Joanne also serves as President of The HCA Foundation, a position she has held since 1999. As the Foundation’s chief executive, Joanne guides grant making to over 500 organizations annually working with the Foundation Board to manage over $212M in assets and $17M annually in grants and matching gifts. This includes a newly established $75M Impact Fund focused on community health needs and health equity. Joanne also served as the founding President of The HCA Hope Fund, HCA’s employee relief fund. Since it was established in 2005, more than 44,000 HCA families have received over $75 million in assistance. Joanne now serves as the Vice-Chair on the Hope Fund Board.
Joanne holds a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration from the George Washington University (1988) and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Emory University (1983). She is on the local board of Nashville Downtown Rotary Club and recently served as part of a state-wide consortium of funders that distributed more than $35M in grants for services to seniors. Joanne also served on the Mayor’s Economic Inclusion Advisory Committee and other local boards including Alignment Nashville. In addition, she is a board member of the Conference Board Corporate Social Responsibility Council and is married with two grown stepdaughters.
