John Barth serves as the chief operating officer of Managed Health Services (MHS), a health plan serving over 320,000 Hoosiers. Barth holds a master’s in social work from the University of Michigan. He joined MHS from the Center for Health Care Strategies in Princeton, NJ, where he was the senior program officer focused on the development and testing of Medicaid models that combined the financing, delivery, and administration of health services. Prior, he was managed care director for the State of Indiana’s Office of Medicaid Policy and Planning, where he oversaw programs serving both needy families and the aged, blind, and disabled populations. He served as an at-large member on the Indianapolis City County Council from 2012-2016 and currently serves as vice president of the Board of Advisors for Indy Reads.
