Anthony Thompson
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Anthony (Tony) Thompson is the Chairman and CEO of Kwame Building Group, Inc. (KWAME), the first African American ESOP corporation in the state of Missouri, which he founded in 1991. Headquartered in St. Louis, MO, KWAME is a construction management and program management firm. Prior to opening his own firm, Tony worked as a Project, Mechanical and Construction Engineer at Anheiser Busch Companies, Monsanto Chemical Company, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers respectively.
Tony holds a MSc in Civil Engineering from Washington University, an MBA in Finance from Webster University, and a BSc in Architectural Engineering and BA in Environmental Design, both from University of Kansas. He is a member of the African American Business Leadership Council, a Trustee at Webster University, and Founder of the Kwame Foundation and the Tyrone Thompson Institute of Non-Violence.
Tony has received numerous awards including the Kappa Alpha Psi Professionalism Award and Distinguished Almuni Awards from Washington University, Webster University, and University of Kansas. Named one of Saint Louis Business Journal’s Most Influential Leaders, Tony for the past two years received the Salute to Excellence Top 25 Minority Firms in St. Louis honor.
Tony is married with two children.
