In 2016, we held the first conference Community & Family Day in the Expo. It was a huge success with over 8,000 attendees, parents and children. It began with a well-attended press conference with remarks from Marc Morial and the Community Day sponsors, along with the city’s mayor. Community Day activities, held in the Expo Hall, included a pop-up barber shop offering free haircuts and manicures; free immunizations, story time with celebrity authors, including professional NBA and NFL players; visits from the GEICO Gecko and more. We distributed over 6000 backpacks filled with school supplies on Community Day. We expect to surpass this success in St. Louis and be able to provide much-needed items to more needy families.
