We told you a bit about TechConnect in a previous post. A main highlight of the 2-day gathering is Demo Day, previously known as the Hackathon for Social Justice. We’ve revamped Demo Day as a chance for early stage startups to pitch their creative solutions to the most pressing issues in our society.
We know that technology has the power to improve the lives of Black and brown people, especially in the areas of education, jobs, housing, voting, and much more. And who better to create these solutions than innovators who care deeply about equality and justice?
The lack of diversity and inclusion in the tech world is well-documented, and of course disappointing. Demo Day exists with this reality in mind and seeks to foster the next generation of digital revolutionaries. Successful entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and other professionals will be on hand to guide and support participants as they embark on this exciting journey.
The team that can win over a panel of judges in a 3-minute pitch will take home $10,000 — $5,000 in cash and another $5,000 in prizes.
Will it be you? Take a shot; the deadline is Tuesday, July 24.
