The opening night of our Annual Conference is always filled with the promise and hope of what will be an empowering week. This year was no different. The National Urban League’s fearless leader Marc Morial welcomed thousands of partners and attendees. To an engaged audience President Morial highlighted the wins and gains of the Movement thus far, along with our shared a vision for tackling the work that remains.

Facebook’s COO Sheryl Sandberg sat down with National Urban League President & CEO, Marc Morial,  for a dynamic one-on-one conversation. They covered a wide range of topics that included internet privacy, gender inequality, equal pay and dealing with loss. In addition, Sandberg shared critical new research from her organization, Lean In, and announced an exciting initiative with the National Urban League.

Michael Bivins was only a sophomore in high school when he hit the road to tour with New Edition and rise to superstardom. The music he made as a founding member of the R&B group became the soundtrack of millions of people’s lives and still takes many back to a sweeter time. 

Bivins’ success only continued with his second group, Bell Biv DeVoe, formed with New Edition members Ricky Bell and Ronnie DeVoe. The trio’s first album Poison topped Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop chart and made unforgettable waves in music.
