Michelle Merriweather strives to be “an effective voice for the voiceless,” advocating for African Americans and other communities systematically excluded from economic and educational opportunities. As head of the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle, she leads advocacy, programming, and coalition building to improve housing, education, health, and workforce development for Seattle’s Black communities. Previously, Merriweather had a successful career in sales and marketing, and was an Urban League volunteer for 10 years before joining the organization as employee. In 2020, she helped launch the Black Future Co-Op Fund, a new paradigm for Black-led solutions to advancing Black generational wealth, health, and well-being. Merriweather is a graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana.
