Jessica Johnson-Cope
Jessica Johnson-Cope is President and principal of Johnson Security Bureau, Inc., a third generation family-owned security services firm based in the Bronx, New York. She is responsible for the firm’s overall business operations. Jessica assumed leadership of Johnson Security in 2008 when her late father, Charles Ronald Johnson, Sr., the firm’s second generation President, took ill. Through sheer perseverance, she quickly learned the business and doubled the revenues and employee base for three consecutive years. The company now employs approximately 150 employees.
Prior to joining her family’s business on a full-time basis, she was a sales representative
for Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals where she promoted cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurology and HIV medications to physicians across New York City. Jessica began her professional sales career with International Business Machines (IBM) in Chicago, Illinois.
Jessica proudly serves as a small business advocate promoting issues that are critical to minority and women entrepreneurs. She is a member of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), has spoken at forums for the White House Office of Engagement, the New York Times “She Owns It” business group blog, Black Enterprise, and Inc. Magazine. She has led Johnson Security to be recognized with numerous awards including: the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America, 2013 Black Enterprise Family Business of the Year, and “Small Business to Watch” presented by the Initiative for a Competitive Inner City (ICIC) in 2011.
Jessica is also committed to building her community through service to several organizations, among them: the New York State Workforce Investment Board, the New York State Security Guard Advisory Council, and the Business Initiative Corporation of New York. She also serves as a proud and active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
