Ella Teal

Ella S. Teal was appointed President/CEO of the Urban League of Union County, Inc., in Elizabeth, N.J in 1979.  Prior to this position she served as the Program Director for the Morris County Urban League in Morristown, New Jersey for eight (8) years.

Ella has an MSW from the University of Connecticut with a concentration in Community Organization and a Bachelor's  from Albany State College (GA) with a major in Sociology and a minor in Psychology.

Additional educational training in Executive Development Programs through the IBM Corporation,  Duke University and Atlanta University.  Selected to attend a management training program at Harvard University by the National Urban League.  Ella has a Certificate in Fund Raising Management from the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and a Certificate of Completion in “Entrepreneurial Leadership and Management for Nonprofit Executives program from the Executive Academy for Social Entrepreneurs’ at George Mason University.

Awards and recognitions include Lifetime Achievement, Woman of Power, Woman of the Year, Living Legend, Humanitarian, Spirit of Caring, President of  the Decade.

Married 45 years to William. Two children: Tahirah Teal Kotati (Yombwe) and son, Shakir AND three grandchildren Julian Alyster Kotati, Benjamin Ellis Kotati and Zahra Ain Kotati.
