The Honorable Angelia Allen believes in community service and education. Elected to the Portsmouth, Virginia, school board in 2016, she believes that her responsibility is to create and support strategic decisions that serve the best interests of all Portsmouth students
A proud veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, Angelia is a member of Third Baptist Church, the Parkview Civic League, the United Way of South Hampton Roads, the Martin Luther King Leadership Steering Committee, the African American Historical Society of Portsmouth, and National Coalition of 100 Black Women. She credits her 2010 role within the Urban League of Hampton Roads Young Professionals Executive Leadership Team with launching her philanthropic and civic lifestyle.
Angelia is also a member of the following boards and commissions: Virginia State Board of Social Work (by the appointment of the Governor), Senior Services of Southeastern Virginia, Portsmouth Schools Foundation, Portsmouth Social Services Advisory Commission, Children’s Harbor, Portsmouth Task Force on Aging, and Portsmouth’s Newport Community Development Authority.
She is currently the marketing director for a rehabilitation and long-term care facility and is passionate about assisting families as they make decisions on the safest and most appropriate living accommodations for elders.
